Michael Funcke-Bartz works with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Entwicklung (GIZ) GmbH as Senior Advisor in the Section Climate and Environmental Policy under the Division Climate Change, Rural Development, Infrastructure. The main focus of his work is on translating environmental and climate policies into circular economy and resource efficiency strategies in production and services. Before joining the technical and methodological department, he headed GIZ’s Section „Sustainable Technologies, Industrial and Urban Development“.
Between 1985 and 2010, as part of German official development cooperation, he worked as capacity development specialist in the field of urban development aiming at professionals and decision-makers from public and private sector.
After graduating in Geography and Spanish, he was dedicated as researcher to urban development processes in Latin America.
